About the Nepali Land Area Converter

Nepal uses two entirely different traditional land measurement systems depending on region: Ropani-Aana-Paisa-Daam in the hill and mountain districts, and Bigha-Katha-Dhur in the flatter Terai region along the southern border. Neither maps cleanly onto square feet or square meters without a conversion table, which makes buying, selling, or simply understanding a land document confusing if you're not already familiar with the specific system in use where the land is located.

How the conversion works

This converter is bidirectional and live: type a value into any single field — square meters, square feet, or any individual hill or Terai unit — and every other field recalculates instantly from it, including properly carrying values over within each composite system (e.g. entering 20 Aana correctly shows as 1 Ropani 4 Aana, since 16 Aana make a Ropani). The underlying conversion factors are Nepal's standard, widely used values: 1 Ropani = 5,476 sq ft, and 1 Bigha = 72,900 sq ft, both cross-checked against the exact foot-to-meter conversion for the square meter figures.
