Most QR scanner apps and websites work the same basic way this one does — decode the pattern into whatever text or link it encodes — but many route the scan through a server first, especially browser-based ones. This scanner processes everything locally in your browser, whether you're using the camera or uploading an image, so the QR content never leaves your device.
Camera or image, your choice
Live camera scanning works for a QR code in front of you right now — a poster, a menu, a product package. Image upload works for a QR code you've already photographed or received as a file, without needing to point a camera at a screen (which can be awkward and error-prone with glare).
Smart handling by content type
A scanned URL gets a direct "Open link" button. WiFi and contact-card QR codes are specifically recognized and labeled, so you know what you're looking at even though the raw encoded text alone doesn't make that obvious. Every result also has a one-tap copy button for pasting the content elsewhere.
A word of caution
Decoding a QR code just reveals what it contains — it doesn't verify the destination is safe. Treat a scanned link with the same caution you'd apply to any unfamiliar link, especially from a QR code posted somewhere public that anyone could have put up.
